The increasing interdependence of infrastructure, continuous public engagement, interwoven social networks in disaster planning and management, the generation of massive multidisciplinary data, and the growing risk disparity in vulnerable communities are converging to reshape the resilience of our urban system. Our interdisciplinary research revolves around understanding the complex dynamics between human and infrastructure systems during disasters. We aim to establish an algorithmic and theoretical framework to assess community resilience and equity. Our research draws insights from civil engineering, social science, public policy, urban planning, public health, and network science.
Our research group is directed by Dr. Shangjia Dong at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Delaware. We welcome sustaining and synergistic collaborations with agencies, practitioners, and academic research communities. For further information, please contact Dr. Shangjia Dong.
